I have the same problem except I am able to scan from within the MP Navigator software. I have also tried installing the drivers on another PC and it does the exact same thing. I realized you need to have MP Navigator on the computer for the scan to work, just the drivers and firmware aren't enough. You can try to reset back to factory by removing cartridges and head.
